View Full Version : New Aquarium
I have set up a new Aquarium (10 Gal) for the first time. I would like to keep angel fish in it. Any reccomendations on what fish I should start the aquarium with to prepare it?

fishless cycle all the way. see the free aquarium e-book in the left margin of the site
It has been running with live plants for a day. The guide reccomeds cycling fish, Zebra Danios. Will they get along with the Angel Fish; or is there a better choice?

Unless you get a really small angel, angels need 15-20 gallons per fish, and a high tank, because they grow more up then out.
That helps, I will do my homework on Angel fish. If the tank is not big enough I will choose a smaller fish. They just need to look cool for my kids. Any suggestions.

I would recommend some guppies or platies. Fun bunch that are always moving around and you can keep them in a 10g tank. Note that they breed easily, so you need to keep that and the tank capacity in mind before mixing sexes
Thanks, I will check them out.thumbs2: :15:

No angels! They need larger aquariums. No more than 2 in a 30 gallon.

Platies, a school of tetras, danios, guppies, most small community fish will do well in a properly maintained 10 gallon.

A couple black lyretailed mollies would be nice. I admire their tails. They look neat.

The fast moving danios are always fun.
Glass catfish are really cool for kids, They love the way you can see right through them. You could keep 5 in a ten gallon.
