View Full Version : Stupid question?

Ok this may sound a little stupid but since I have never had fry or Cory I am unsure. I have a QT that has 2 Oto and 1 Cory in it. We have some fry (Platy I think) in a breeder box in our 29 gal community tank and we were considering moving them to the QT once our Angel and Gouramis in there go to their new home. Will the Cory eat the fry? Even by accident? I know this may seem ignorant but I am not sure.

Not a stupid question at all. I beleive the corys would not bother the fry. Though I have never mixed livebeaer fry and corys. My corys do not bother my bristle nose pleco fry.

Corys are usually pretty passive and won't chase after fry to eat them. If the fry are resting on the bottom and a cory passes over them they might try to take a bite but the fry, if it's healthy, will probably swim off first. I have corys in my livebearer tanks and they don't seem to bother the fry at all.

The fry will be fine with the cory!Add some kind of floating plant and the fry will be up top.

Thanks everybody! I thought that was the deal but I have learned one thing is nothing is a certainty with these fish. I hope I am not assuming anything here but the Oto's won't eat fry either...Right?

My corys can barely catch stationary pellets so to catch a fry would be a miracle.:hmm3grin2orange:
