I leave tomorrow morning at 4:30 am to go to Idaho till Saturday. My dad is designated pet feeder. We gave him the list for feeding the dogs and cats, who gets what medications... Well to make it easier for him I got an automatic feeder for one tank and was going to use my light timer for the planted tank.

Problem one. I have to leave the top up on the big tank in order to use the auto feeder. I hope no one jumps out while we are gone. If I attach it to the back it dumps it on the glass top not the open hole I cut.

Problem two. This stupid timer went out on the power strip. The electricity works on the non timed side but not the timer side.
This is so frustrating this thing worked a week ago.

Ouch that does suck, but a piece of cardboard over the rest of the opened area and it should be fine.

As for the timer, I'm at a loss. If its just the strip, use a extension chord to get to another outlet.

Still better then my situation

Luckily no they don't jump. I showed my dad the deal and he seems to be okay with it. My dad is 72 yr old although he acts and looks 55. I told him small pinch of food in the small tank day light on in the morning. No food in the evening and day light off moon light on. Big tank 4 sinking pellets and light on. Night time light off no food. I wrote it down clearly as well. Its not that my dad is too old to do it, he doesn't speak the best english and doesn't always understand. But he got it and asked questions and understands everything. LOL he even has to give one dog antibiotics lol that should be interesting.

Sounds like he has it.

You could premeasure food in cups or a pill dispenser for him to give the fish.

your fish would be fine without food for a week

Sorry to hear about your trouble.

I know the feeling. Maybe just get those small plastic zip lock bags, then measure out the food each day for your fish.

That what I do for dad.
