I took a few convicts from my grandchild to start an aquarium. Much to my surprise, they multiplied like mad and now I have six aquariums and am out of room. I have posted a question about having a convict tank out on the porch (stock tank) that could be heated in the winter.
Anyone done that?

Hello and welcome!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do not think that is a good idea. The glass may not be able to handle such drastic differences between warm and cold. Not to mention any problems you may have with storms. Unless you mean like an enclosed porch. That may work ok.

my father had his tank on the porch. it was in the shade and it was an enclosed porch. the problem wasnt the cold in winter but the heat in summer.

Welcome to the AC and the wonderful world of convicts. As the saying goes, you can have 1 convict or you can have dozens. Nothing in between :18:

Hello everyone that replied.
Thanks for your time. I do appreciate your interest.
The stock tank would be metal and the porch is not enclosed
but I would cover the tank if extreme cold. I would have a nice
air bubble system.
I don't know about the heat since we are 103 today which is really
hot for here.

Welcome to the forum. I would have warned you about the Convicts but it appears you have already found out.
