This morning I went to do a water change on my 29 gallon and I just happened to spot a little one flitting around in there! He was being pretty brave - right out in the open! But I got the net quickly and got him in a breeder box. I did spot another wee one, but he was in a cave and I couldn't get to him. I haven't seen him again, :scry:, but who knows, he may have just found a great hiding place in there. I'm keeping an eye out for any other wee ones and will try to catch any I see.
Some pics of the little guy in the breeder box are attached. My 4 year old daughter has named him Baby. See my sig for the 29 gallon - he's a molly or a platy, DUH! I'm inclined to think he's a platy, though. One of my platy girls is looking a bit thinner today.
He's in the breeder and I've put some leaves from a silk plant in there for him to hide in. I ground up some flakes and sprinkled in there and he started eating the tiny pieces right away. He's definitely safe and seems pretty comfy. Is there anything else I should be doing for him?

Looks like a platy to me. And platy fry dont require much, they're pretty hardy.

Thanks to all!
I think he's likely a platy. My platy ladies have been looking a bit round lately. I would have quarantined them until they gave birth, but my qt tank is occupied just now with the new Gouramis and Angel I have listed for my 45 (see my sig). Anyway, he's orange with a black tail - makes me wonder if at least one of his parents is one of my Mickey Mouse Platys. I have a male and a female. Other platys are one male and one female Sunburst (I think that's what they're called, they're just orange platys), and one male and one female Red Wag Platy.
The little one is in my 29 gallon - Mollys, Platys, Rasboras, Tetras. Would the Mollys breed with the Platys? Three male and three female Mollys - Dalmatians, Sailfins, and Black.
But GUESS WHAT???? I found another one!!! My daughter has named this one Tiny. He's even smaller than Baby. Just a little gold head with a transparent tail. Siblings? Maybe, maybe not.
I'm attaching a couple pics of Tiny - he's eaten, too, btw. I'm thrilled to see it! Both of them seem pretty comfy in the box. Plenty of hiding places in those leaves. And they are aware of each other, but aren't hanging out together. Both of them seem pretty possessive of their hiding spots. :hmm3grin2orange:
Pics are LOUSY, but he's so tiny and very hard to see! Anyone willing to take a guess at how old these wee ones might be? Approx how long until they'll be big enough to come out of the box?
This is too cool!!! My first fry!!

theyre' probably like a day or two old. they could be siblings.
they can come out when they are old enough to not be seen as food to the other fish.
so probably like in 3-4 months. or when they are like half an inch.

I'll probably never know for sure who the parents are but that doesn't really matter anyway.
It's just so neat! AMAZING to see such a tiny little thing like that playing and eating and doing its thing. I'm loving this!! :lovegoddess:

Thanks Gayle and Mac!
Today all is well with the little guys. They seem just fine - eating well and every now and then one or both of them can be seen swimming around in the breeder. I left one spot open and free of leaves and they'll drift around in that area some (more food sinks there) and don't seem concerned about being so exposed there. I guess maybe they realize they're safe in there?
TOO COOL!!!
