Okay, this is exciting! I just bought a 46 gallon bow front. I don't think I will be able to add to it for a bit. I have to let the wallet cool down from this recent purchase, but I can at least consider what the next addition will be so I thought I would get your input. Many of your tanks sound so impressive.

Please keep in mind that I am still only about 6 weeks new to to this whole fish business, so I think for now I will still need to stick with some relatively hardy fish. They will unfortunately need to be able to withstand any of my mistakes.

Also, this tank is used and was previously set up for saltwater. Are there any special considerations before use?

Your suggestions will be appreciated!

Wash and scrub the tank thoroughly before you do anything. Make sure to get any salt deposits off.

For hardy fish, you can go with guppies, platies, zebra danios or tiger barbs. I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but those are the first that pop in my head. Make sure you decide on what you eventually want to get though (when you have more experience), so you don't end up with conflicting species.

swordtails and cory cats are quite interesting and hardy too.

yes do a heavy cleaning on the tank and do a fishles cycle. while it's cycling do your research on the fish that you like and see what will work with your water conditions. good luck.
