How do I know my pleco eats? My fat blood parrot and jack dempsy take nibbles out of the algea wafers so i just want to make sure...any way to know?

It would help if you dropped the wafers in a half hour or so after lights were out, give the other more of a chance to go to sleep and your pleco to be out and about looking for food, LOL.

But if he's growing and isn't looking skinny etc, then he's getting food. You could stick in some cucumber or zucchini, weighted down, and I bet he won't be able to resist and comes out to have anibble even if it's not night!

yeah, feed after lights out... and your parrot/dempsey won't touch veggies... try cucumber, zucchini, or melon...

As soon as the lights start to dim, my plecos come out looking for food. Definitely wait until lights out to drop wafers in. Put veggies any time of day and they'll eat it.

Plecos poo a bunch. If he is eating you should see the outcome.

I'll throw in the zuc when the girlfriend comes over, should be interesting to see the reaction of my guy.

How do I cut the zuc? Its on a fork on the bottom but nothing is happening to it, not even nibbles.

I feed mine cucumber or zuc. twice a week, they absolutely love it! If you leave it floating on the top, you'll get to seen their true colors when they go up to the surface and pull it down, their awesome!

You must sink most veggies!
I use a small desert fork tines down so no one gets hurt!

No need to have to sink it with anything. My pleco kicked the parrot fish and bichir out of the little aircraft carrier decor so I just threw it in there so he can get it when he pleases.
