Yea so my betta's favorite spot is wedged into the java fern and driftwood.
He is quirky.

Lol I don't see him now. He wiggled deeper. I hope he doesn't get stuck... I need to pull him out to put in another tank for treatment.

Bettas feel secure in small places. I had one that used to go down the tube of an undergravel filter (it wasn't hooked up). I thought it had jumped out of the tank until I saw it come out. I was going to cover the top until I read that they like small spaces at times (and he wasn't stuck). He seemed pretty happy. So your betta is just making himself at home.

Sounds like he's getting comfy. It's funny, you provide this huge tank for him and he willingly gets into a spot tighter than those cups they sell them in!

mine always does that, and he likes to hide his head.

It's good that they can stretch their fins when they want to and they like to have a look around, but when they have had enough of that or are feeling stressed, they need their tiny homes. They are one of my favorite fish.

Owlbehere, how is he doing today?

Well I still have not had the time to set up his quarantine tank. No time between work. Its work bed, work bed. But tomorrow is the last day to work before I have two days off and then leave for Idaho to go house shopping. I worry about him though while I'm away. All my dad can do is feed a little bit each day. He is very hungry, I came home today and when I walked up to the tank he wiggled out of his spot (guess he felt the vibrations) and went right to the feeding ring... And stared at me till I fed him. He ate it all. He is now flaring at the reflection. His fins still look twisted but I am treating the tank with melafix. I figured it wouldn't hurt.

Update! My betta's tail is un twisting. He came up for breakfast this morning and his tail was more open! I think the melafix is helping.
