View Full Version : trip to Elmers Aquarium

We took off out of town this week and went to Pittsburgh to take my husbands 90 yr old grandmother out to dinner. At Elmers Aquarium he scored 3 electric blues for his tank and at a place called All Oddball Aquatics he scored a synodontis multipuctatus (sorry if I misspelled). Previously he had only seen the syn multi for around 60 bucks and he scored this cute guy for $15!

As you can see the electric blues settled right into the tank and are quite happy. Thankfully I got the good pic of the catfish because he has disappeared to parts unknown somewhere in the vast rock structure!

Sorry, I forgot to resize those pics in my excitement:14: .
My next threads on MY purchases will be resized.

Very cool! The electric blues look awesome. I love how the one in the last pic has it's mouth wide open like it's in shock from the camera or something lol.

Good catch chrona, I didn't even notice the open mouth, I was just happy to see crisp clear shots of such pretty fish. I had taken some while still in the bag, but those can't compare to the "in the tank shots"

Oh yeah, blue is the predominant color in that tank with demasoni, acei, a couple of others and now the electrics! Bright blue is such a pretty color!

kimmers what beautiful fish!! Those blues are really nice :)

What is the yellow one called? My friend has one, but she doesn't know what they are called.

To tell ya the truth, I am not real sure what the yellow one is. I think it is the red zebra, but h/she usually is more of an orange color, although the flash could have washed him/her out since I was focusing on the electrics. This is hubby's tank, not mine, so I have a tendency to not know for sure what all he has in there.

Great pictures, those electric blue's are stunning! If my Malawi tank wasn't fully stocked I'd definately add a few!

Thanks jweintraub. Hubby's tank is slightly overstocked, but he goes by the overstocking method to keep down aggression. It is hard for a fish to pick on 1 certain fish when they have fish coming at them from every angle. So far that works and he rarely loses a fish, none have ever had tell tale fight marks so it must be working. The only thing I worry about is that he is also one of those people that is lax about tank maintenance and thinks people such as myself worry too much and check things too much. And then he will end up losing the tank full of fish!

Wow, I'm usually not much into catfish but that one looks amazing. :thumb:

He is starting to get braver so I am going to clean the glass on the tank and hope to get some more pics of him. He has colored up even better and is such a cutie!
