This is for a 29gallon aquarium

So not even THINKING about my aquarium stand I was wondering...Will it support my tank once it is a fully built SW tank? All 30-40lbs of live rock, another layer of about 10lbs of sand, etc?

Reason why I became concerned was because I was at the LFS and they had a stand very similar to mine. I checked it out and wanted to see what the MAX weight was and it said 275 lbs! So that leaves me with a 40lbs glass aquarium, about 232 lbs of fresh water and.. 2 lbs of substrate? Nothing else? Do they just under estimate or something?

Im guessing my overall weight right now is around 326 lbs; 15 lbs of live rock, 20 lbs of substrate, 240 something lbs of water, filter, hood, light, etc.

So obviously I am way over the limit. And i still need to add another 15 lbs of live rock and a HOB protein skimmer. And a 36 inch T5 lighting system.

Do I need to buy a new stand!?

I'd say that you should be fine. Those wrought iron stands are pretty durable.

ok cool, thanks.

One other off topic thing. I used crushed coral (about 1-2 inches) and about 1 inch of silica play sand on top. For some reason (dont know why I didnt catch this before) apparently CC is HORRIBLE to use and 99% of the population say to just use live sand. Well 30 bucks for a 15lb back can be used for another 5lb piece of live rock, in my book.

Since I have already gone the route I chose, am i going to run into problems?

No clue. I also chose CC because of the price. I'm planning on putting a thin layer of sand or fine-medium aragonite.

I've had it all 3.5 months my tank has been running. And I think it ranges from 1.5-2 inches.

That stand will hold without a problem.
Is that the tank in the pic?

It should be fine like AABatteries said but I would not use them 1st I don't like the look of them there kinda tacky if you have a nice looking tank and I don't know how stable they would be.. So thats why I built my own stand for my 75 gal tank.. one thing it was a lot cheaper and a lot stronger than the particle board one you buy form the store

Here is a pic of my stand to show U

ya thats my unfinished saltwater project. Well I have now decided to return the CC to the store. Its only been ten days and Im just going to pay the extra 15 bucks and get some nice looking arganite sand. I am reading nothing but horrible things about CC and I really am not liking the look of it.

Yea if your going to pay all that money for a saltwarter tank you should make it a good looking one

ok one last question. I have Caribsea Aragonite. Its HUGE particles wit ha LOT of whole shells in it. Is this considered crushed coral? Nowhere on the bag does it say crushed coral....

Thats what they were selling it as last time I looked at it.I was going to add some to my tanks to raise the ph.
I would also get the sand if its the look you want.

Their aragonite comes in 3 or 4 different textures/sizes.

Fine, medium, large, and large+shells. Think those are right.

I would not use an iron stand for holding rock work, to use in heavy traffic areas or around kids. A wooden stand just is not going to move and takes away from any worries.

just swapped out the CC for Caribbean Live sand.

oh my, what a difference. Why would anyone go with CC?

To buffer the pH. I would probably have 7.4 if I didn't have CC.
