hey guys --

had a quick question regarding my powerhead/filter pump ...

it has 4 holes

1) general intake
2) main exhaust (which causes current in tank)
3) 2nd exhaust (goes up to the box filter)
4) 1/4" small tube

what is #4 for? if i open the cap at the top, i hear air going in i guess which adds more air to the main exhaust? when i take the cap off, i notice more bubbles coming out of the main jet stream -

is it necessary for me to take the cap off? or does it not matter? cuz, with it off, the sound just about doubles or triples....kind of loud.....

If it is justto add air to the water, then it is not neccesary unless you have a heavily stocked tank, otherwise, leave it off, it's not worth the noise.

Try looking in the instructions about it to see what it is meant for.

Mine come with a small black plug that you can use if you want aeration without the bubbles or you pull that little plug and add the airline if you do.

It sounds as you can remove the cap and insert the airline there. Don't throw the plug out as you don't always want the bubbles.

I was suprised at how many bubbles those things can create!

i thought you needed the airpump connected at first, and my SW looked like a cyclone. Its much better without bubbles.
