View Full Version : air stone/curtain not lasting long.. what the heck?

is there something i'm doing wrong? i mean why would this air curtain only work like a month? is there a way to revamp it? a better way or better type?

It could be either clogged with algae or calcium deposits from hard water.If it is algae then soak the stone in bleach for an hour then rinse and soak in clean water for another hour.If it is water hardness then you are left with getting new stones every month.

Do you have access to an air compressor?
I was given a really old one to see if I could get it working.
The bleach dip first as smaug suggested and then blow it out with LOW PRESSURE,50lbs max.You can blow them apart!lol
Rinse well after that and blow it again.Let dry so there is no bleach smell and try it out.
I also wore goggles,it is a wee bit dangerous.

Thats a good idea if you happen to have an air compressor:shappy: If you dont,the bleach will still work with out it.

Have you tried one of these ChellaBella, they don't seem to block up very much at all.

They're a little more expensive than a normal stone but do the same job and should last alot longer.thumbs2:
