Usually I have stuff floating on the surface in my tank and I do not like it all. And netting it out day after day is annoying. So, I wanna make/get a surface skimmer with out having and overflow to a sump.

I have my ideas in my mind right now, which I will draw up shortly. If anybody has any ideas let me know.

EDIT: Ah ha! Found almost my exact idea. Forget drawing one.

I plan having more teeth, that aren't so tall.

Do you have enough flow to break the surface?

If my tank isn't topped off, yes.

So what do you mean, the output comes out and drops in to the water to break the surface?

Well you definitely need a powerhead to add some flow and it would easily break the surface so that gunk doesn't sit on top.

The return from my CPR is always in the water never dripping. But if it gets a bit low there is an opening between the water and the top of the pipe, and for some reason there's more surface agitation.

Also, I already have a Koralia 1, and plan on getting another soon, probably Sunday. I'll be able to aim one of them more at the top so, I may end up not needing the surface skimmer.

I have 'jury-rigged' a surface skimmer for my sumpless non 'reef-ready' tank. My used tank came with some parts that I haven't used (most of the parts for sump utilization).

One of the parts is an overflow box. I've have 'attached' that to the side of the tank with two powerful magnets. I have also positioned the intake tubes of my HOB protein skimmer and canister filter into this box. I also have the output tube of my phosphate reactor flowing into it).
