I was looking in my tank and I noticed that one of my female cherry barbs is swimming funny and is bloated. Parts of her tail are missing as well, but there has been no agression in the tank from what I have seen lately.
The other fish in the tank are 9 more cherry barbs, 2 rams, three spot gourami, 1 BN pleco, 1 clown loach 2 burma loaches and 2 yoyo loaches.
What is going on? Any ideas?
I will test my tank parameters and post them in a few minutes.
Thanks,
Agassizii

Sorry your fish is sick. Ok so water is ok, when was the last w/c? It sounds to me like some sort of bacteria. Are any other fish displaying any odd behaviors???

The last WC was on sunday. I took out about 40% of the water.
I am thinking it may be the GH. The GH has never been that high. I tested the tap water for pH and the results showd 8.8, which is way higher then it used to be.
Im gonna be looking into a RO/DI system. This will help.
In the past, when I had sick fish I would set up my 1 1/2 with a whisper filter and a 50 watt heater and place the fish in there. This set up has saved my gourami a few times. So Im gonna put the cherry barb in there for now.
I have not noticed any aggression between any of the fish companions, but will keep a close eye for any. The only odd behaviours in the tank would be with this cherry barb that is sick. She has holes in her tail and is at the top, breathing rapidly and is in a vertical position.
