OK, I have to get a reality check from other people here, I'm starting to behave like a "grumpy old man". I'm not old, but I might be grumpy.:ssmile:
Anyway, on a regular basis (several times a day) people in the neighborhood take their dogs to have a crap on my lawn. The dogs don't just wander on the lawn, some people actively encourage them.
They do clean it up, but I still find it very rude.
When we owned a dog it stayed (and crapped) on our own lawn. No one else's. Heck, we didn't even have to be there, she was trained that way. So I don't buy it that your dog can't go on your own lawn...
What do you think? Am I just being a grumpy old man or is this extremely rude?
I'm worried I'll get a bad reaction if I ask them not to ("what, I'm cleaning it?") and I'm not sure that will do anything either because they do it when I'm in full view in the doorway or on the deck.

Have you ever owned a dog and taken it for a walk.If it smells right it is right!lol:19:
You can buy something at a local pet store that you spray on your grass to stop that special scent! It does help but only a fence will stop it!
I have to deal with it all the time!I have a favorite yard too.Its on a corner with a sidewalk,so they twice as much fun!
If I sit out front with my "Bowzer" they tend to drag their dog away in fear.
Than I have to tell them to pick it up! I know its messed up but there is little you can do.
I have also sat out there with my camera in hand. That works!
Now have you got any suggestions for stopping black bears!:hmm3grin2orange:

Oh I don't blame the dogs at all, I blame the people, especially the ones that encourage their dogs to go "here".

Aha, there's a commonality here - corner lot as well. The walkway here just leads to my door but some people use that as a "sidewalk" as well.
I'm moving out of here the first chance I get, then I think I'm gonna get me a rocking chair and a shotgun, sit out on the porch and polish it all day.:oldtimer:

I'll trade!! At least your neighbors pick up after their dogs. Mine leave it!
Though I am known to bag it up with a note "you left this in my yard" and leave it on their steps. :22:
I wouldn't normally care (as long as they pick up after the dog) because I've had dogs my whole life so I guess I'm use to it... The ones that annoy me are the ones that walk off the sidewalk through my yard to get to my shrubs.

LOL!
If I had the guts (and wouldn't mind getting arrested!) I've often thought it would be good for me to go have a crap on their lawn. If they say anything, I'd reply "what, I'm cleaning it up!" and bring out my baggie...

I wouldnt care so much if it was along the outer parimeter of my yard only a few feet from the sidewalk and they cleaned it up. But not the freakin middle of my font lawn that would piss me off even if they did clean it up. My own dog doesnt even use the yard as a toliet. He refuses to go unless its along the edge of the woodland behind the house or he'll sometimes pee in some weeds along a fence.
A good way to deter anyone is a 160lb wolf/german shepard with an anger problem...if another dog gets on the our property it usually doesnt get out alive...thus its good we dont live anywhere near town limits. Hes also affective at keeping wildlife including bear back :22: But anyway if anyone did that to my lawn I would go baggie the poo up and slingshot it at them on their way back home...hopefully hitting the owner with its own dogs poo...

I would try out all the spray/scent barriers i could find if it really bothered me.
Most neighborhoods dont allow front yard fences, otherwise i would have one, but good scent barriers can be just as good when the dog is looking for a good spot.
Or, if its sweet revenge you are after, you can always take some dog poo, put it in a paper bag and the bag on the offender's doorstep...make sure you have your lighter, and if you dont know where this is going by now you probably had a boring childhood :hmm3grin2orange:

I must have been a "good little girl" as I have no idea what the lighter is for!:hmm3grin2orange: I don't mind the dogs going on our property, as long as the owner cleans up. If we see one that doesn't use a "pooper scooper", we follow them and ask them politely to come back and clean it up! They do...I suppose out of embarassment!

I wouldn't like it at all. It is not very appetizing to be having dinner and look out your window to that vision. :ssuprised: I think people should keep their dogs out of other people's yards.

Yuk
def a fence, or how about a sprinkler system, linked to your desk, you see the dog squat and bang dog and owner get a shower

You do not a big fence. All I have is a post every ten ft and two slats going across. One is about ten" up and the is about 24" up.Just enough to stop a hound. You only see it here a few months of the year, its covered in snow the rest of the time!:11:

Another thing that works well are firecrackers. (Shhhh, they are illegal to shoot off here). :hmm3grin2orange: But, I don't imagine that would be a very good idea to shoot them off in town. :ssuprised: :ssuprised:

i like pepper spray for this. since dogs can attack you, you can always say it was self defense on your property.thumbs2:
of course hear i am with two little dogs that like to poo right on our property dividing line...

This is right up my alley.:ssmile: It sounds like trespass to me,plain and simple. You have every right to protest neighbors who allow this "crap" to happen. If simple complaints to the offenders go unheeded then place no trespass signs,if that doesn't work call the police after you get a picture of this happening. Its not right and its sad that people do this to you.

Hey, I don't think you're grumpy at all. Back home the neighbours dog used to crap on our lawn too, or even near the front steps. I got fed up with it, I would scoop it up with a shovel and toss it on his driveway. Didn't really resolve anything, but sure made me feel better. Then I put it on the hood of his car, did that a few times. He came over to talk to my folks about it, man my folks were pissed at me:p I told him I was sick of his dog crapping on our lawn/steps, so he should clean up after his dog or he'll start finding it in his mailbox. He was a bit offended / embarassed about it. Tensions were a bit strained with him for a few years, but his wife was fine with it and laughed about it. I never did put any dog poop in his mailbox, thought it might be going over the line. The guy living on the other side of him started doing the same thing.
Guess in the end it really depends on how good your relations are with your neighbours. Some are considerate, and some are just plain jerks. Got along great with all the other neighbours on the block.

Just run out and take a pic of the dog in stoop mode and the handler in shock.
It goes a long way! lol
You won't even have to use the pic but hang onto it for future references!:hmm3grin2orange:
