We sell live New Zealand cockles and manila clams at my work. If I put one or two in my tank, what would happen?

They'd eventually starve to death. Weeks or months after introduction. Cockles and those clams need tons and I mean tons of small particulate food like Phytoplankton to survive in aquariums.

As you can see, I live in New Zealand. Nothing better than fresh, live cockles and clams.

Unfortunately they will perish as they come from our temperate waters. However, if you finely chop them, they make great fish food.

I have found them on the half shell (fresh and live) great for getting picky eaters (various butterflies and angels etc) to eat
