Hey everyone, heres kind of a newbie question:

I currently have LR and a CUC (along with a pepermint shrimp) in my 20 gallon high. I have 2 powerheads that are rated around 244gph and 170gph. Right now i have an Aqua Clear (not sure of the number but its the smallest model (20 i think)) running, as has been for the life of the tank(about a month). I was thinking of taking the AC off of the tank(to put it on a FW) and replacing it with a little aquatech (just for water circulation). I was wondering if this would be a bad idea since there seems to be some beneficial bacteria growing on the bio material in the filter, or if this wouldnt matter since i dont have any fish or corals and dont put food in my tank. I am going to start my 10gallon sump when i come back to school in fall, before i start adding fish and coral.

Typically the LR is all the filtration you need. I see no problems with you removing the filter from the tank.

You could turn it into a fuge. Just google "AC fuge mode"

Good decision. People usually mod the HOB's when they aren't able to add a sump for some reason.
