Im trying to figure out what type I will need in regards to my tank size. I was looking at this one: [Only Registered Users Can See Links.] But now I am thinking that the flow is going to be too much?

How many GPH do you gauge for your tank size? Do i need two? I know that you want the water to be basically crashing into each other but since I am not planning on corals any time soon, would one be alright? What size? thanks.

Is this for the inhabitants in your sig?
What kind of filtration are you using? (remember, this adds water flow as well)

Oh no i need to change that. haha. Nothing in it right now, havent got the tank cycled with the new live rock or decided what I want. Right now, Im using live rock and untill I have all the live rock I need, I have an Aquaclear 70 hangin off the back. Later on down the road when the tank gets mature I am going to pick up a protein skimmer (since for now Im just doing FWLR).

So basically, later if I decide to do coral and stuff, would that one 850 GPH Koralia be enough, too much, etc?

It depends on how you want to stock the tank. Some fish and corals perfer a high flow rate and others want minimal flow.

Well would this be considered a high flow rate? Would it cause a whirlpool or anything like that? Would it provide enough flow for the live rock?

I'd go with two of the smaller (less flow) ones for 29g...

like two 260's or 400's?

A koralia 3, is way too much flow for a 29g. A koralia 2 or a koralia 1 and a koralia nano would be good for a 29g. You probably could pull of just getting a koralia 1 on the tank if you wanted.

so if i get one, what gph should i aim for?

Are you planning on using a sump in your system? Also what are you looking to keep? If you're going to want SPS you will need a much higher turn over than an LPS tank. Flow is one of those subjects where there really is no "right" answer. You have to judge it by what you're keeping and it's response.

Oldhead is right, there are a lot of factors. Even the way you place your liverock can effect how much flow you need, because you might end up with dead spots.

You could probably start with Travie's suggestion and go with one K1. If you have dead spots, or you want to go with higher flow corals, you could get another Koralia.

I started with a 265gph return and two Koralia Nanos. I started keeping some SPS, so now I have the return and a vortech MP20...about 2265gph in my 31g.

No on the sump. And im not sure what I am going to be keeping yet. I know later on down the line I am going to try for maybe some bubble coral, mushrooms, etc. Simple coral. And the fish, not sure yet. Waiting for this tank to mature until I decide what to get. Right now Im thinking brittle stars, some reef safe hermits, lawnmower blennies, damsels, etc

p.s. what is SPS/LPS?

So should I start with this 400 GPH: [Only Registered Users Can See Links.] and then just work my way up when I decide to get corals, add maybe 1 or two more?

Small polyp stoney corals and Large polyp stoney corals...

I have a 34g SW tank. It came with two PHs...almost everyone who runs the tank runs an extra...so they run 3 in total.

I think two is enough. I also have a 3rd in mine, because sometimes I have issues with one of the two built-ins. But I haven't noticed any overall improvement with the addition of the 3rd PH. At the same time, I haven't notice any detrimental effects either...so I've left it in the tank.

But the odd time I've only had one PH running...it certainly wasn't enough, so I suggest two smaller ones (check how large a tank they're recommended for...)...

I would get a Koralia 1 and a Koralia 2. I have a K1 in my 20g high and I'm planning on getting another K1 or Nano

Each koralia has a gph rating. I just said some setups you could go with and be fine with most likely, but every tank is different.
