Nice looking fish!
When I saw the post I didn't realize what topic it was under. I was expecting dwarf neon tetras!! :hmm3grin2orange: I couldn't figure out how they could possibly get any smaller.

I love dwarf rainbows! How many did you get? I saw 2 pics with a male in them, so you have at least 1.
Mine like to play hide and seek :fish: :fish:

I am hoping its one male and 3 females.lol
I'm pretty sure there is two of each.
The fins are yellow one look and orange the next!:hmm3grin2orange:
One is over an inch long and its definately a he.The other 3 are under an inch still.

hopefully yours will get better in color. Mine when i had them were a nice shinny blue.
Also i'd watch with the territory thing. I lost a few due to them fighting all the time. Not sure what the ratio is but there should be a certain amount of females to males.

I tried to get 3 females for the big little guy! lol
I wanted him to be real happy!:hmm3grin2orange: Unfortunately I didn't get to pick them!
They are pretty vicious with each other. They even chased Oscar out his spot!
I'm sure they will color up more soon, they are still kinda small.

According to the third picture with all 4, I'd say you have 1m/3f.
I have 1m/5f and would like to add another male.

I am wondering if that is a good idea or not!
I am watching my male get rather nasty with the other fish.I know for sure that two are female but I do think the third is a male. The large male has been staking his claims and nipping at anything that goes near his spot, including the beta.
What else is in your tank with them?

I've had them with corys, rams, gouramis, mollies, crayfish, a goldfish, and cherry barbs (not all at the same time). Right now the school is with a few corys and a ram. I will be adding more rams, more corys and a pair of pearl gourami to complete the stocking. I've never seen any aggression, but I've always kept them in a larger tank than a 10G.
Three things - they need a couple more, there should be more females than males (at least 2:1), 10G may be too small.

Yes more may help but I will be removing a male and getting two more females for a different tank.
Everthing I've read so far says a ten is ok!
I have wondered how the aggressive male would do in my community tank alone with my guppies?
Thanks Turk!

He'll probably either beat them up or try to school with them...more likely the latter. Ive read 20G minimum for a school, so I started them in a 20H. They aren't constant swimmers like danios, but they need some space because they like to dart around playing follow the leader and hide and seek. They can bang off the glass, especially when startled. I found the 20G high to not be long enough for the fish to swim propperly. I say that after moving them to a 45G and watching their behavoir in the larger tank.

I hear that rainbows of different species will all school together, but I had a boesmani with the dwarfs for about two weeks before he went back due to bullying. That was in the 20 which I think was too small for even a small boesmani.
They're awesome fish and have inspired me to upgrade my lighting to show them off better. :hmm3grin2orange: Good luck with them!

Thanks! I hope they will be available up here when I am ready next month.
I just put another small handful of hornswort in the tank.It gave the beta some peace and quiet as well as somewhere else for the rainbows to forge through for food.
