I'm wondering - what are these fish like? Fun? Active?
They aren't around here much - I can get a breeding set of 8 fish for $300 or each for $80. I've been doing some reading and breeding them doesn't seem too hard. Are they popular fish where you are? Aussies - have you seen them in your LFS? Do you think I should try breeding them?
I need a new project. Share your thoughts about what you would get. I have a 20G tank that I was hoping to make the breeding site. I have a smaller 5G tank that I use as a fry grow tank.

Ouch!!!!! for that price I will express ship them to you overnight and then a group of 20 LOL LOL
I sell them for $2.50 a fish...in the shops they are around $4 here.
They breed pretty easy as long as they are in their own with heaps of java moss to lay their eggs in and can forget about (not eat them :hmm3grin2orange: ) Healthy diet....clean water and they do the rest themself....
They are quite shy little fishies but the little ones you breed yourself are less shy and you will see them more often.... they like to chase each other around the tank and the males show off to each other regularly....
Lovely little fish but for that price I would start breeding L46 pleco's - you'll make a lot more in return also breeding them.
I lack a smiley that has the eye-pop, jaw-drop and faint reaction.

I haven't seen any in the LFS's here in Ballarat Gem, Or in any I've been to in Melbourne either.
I'll ask a friend who has an LFS in Perth if she's seen any on her book and how much they'd be, let you know.
I'm not surprised at the price of them though. Fish prices here are RIDICULOUS!! I've been meaning to get another Bristlenose, but do you know I have not found any below $20, and that's just for a 1cm regular bristley, not even an albino!!!

A 1cm bristle is a 1$ fish ;-)
guess it has to do with the strong regulation you guys have as everything thrive in the wild (and cause problems)

Yeah it's the import laws. Its better than having an imported species wipe out the natives though.
Jess - I wonder how much that would work out to be!! Hehehe. I'm not a fan of plecos. Although they do sell around here! Only one or two come up at auctions and the people go into a bidding frenzy.
Fraggle - That would be awesome if you could let me know what your friend says :)
I don't know. I also thought about Calvus - but I would need a much bigger tank for that. One black calvus around here is an easy $80. Maybe I should get some shell dwellers. Or maybe shrimp. Too many options!!!!!!!!
