I've perused other aquarium advice websites and wanted to say that I'm happy to have found this one. As a beginner, I've had many questions and have faced some harsh treatment on another board for the same questions I've asked here. Thanks to all of you who've helped me out while not berating me for my lack of knowledge.

I haven't looked into any others either...but FW is my only hobby, besides college and drinking, and i dont really need a forum for that! But yes, this forum is VERY helpful to me.

I definitely agree. I tried out another one before here and I was treated like garbage because I didn't know about fishless cycling. Here I was always treated nicely and gently educated. I'm glad that you feel the same way.

I remember when I first started looking for fish advice forums, and the first one I found I started a thread asking what to expect on my new tank. I didn't know about fishless cycling either, and didn't know to post my water test results in the thread. I was optimistic about recieving help/advice, but I went later and checked my thread, and all 7 replies were basically calling me a stupid noob and a fish murderer. One was,"How are we supposed to know what your water is like if you don't tell us? We can't read your mind, noob."
How very rude. After another similar treatment at one other forum, I was ready to give up asking advice online until I found this one. I was expecting the same treatment, but then people were genuinely being nice and asking questions that I had not even realized should be things to consider. I owe about 90% of my knowledge about fish to this site.
Thanks, guys! You're the best! :D

Not that this has to do anything with fish (so I'll keep it short...I promise!), but a few years ago I was on a gaming forum and after several months I was accused of being a former member that had gotten kicked off the forum. Apparently they thought I was some guy in South America that came back and joined under the ruse of being a girl from the US (I guess we had the same writing style?). I really liked the forum but after the accusation a lot of people started becoming rude to me, and I finally decided to leave. To this day those people probably still think that I was Armando from Argentina.
