I got my fish some frozen "Freshwater Frenzy" food. lol I just love the name. But anyhow...my super-noob question; Do I thaw the cube out first, or break it into bits or just toss it in there n watch em fight over it?

LOL I am so red in the face!!(blush)

I always defrost in a plastic cup first and then put it in the tanks.

I thaw mine and use a syringe to squirt in diff areas so it is spread out a bit.

It worked great just tossing in the cube. They were a bit confluxed at first, then when it started leaching into the water, the "frenzy" started. LOL though it was a gimmick name but nope...holy moly!

Next time though, I will give them only half a cube. The worm thingies are really long and at one point, there was a fish on either end!

I can't see any laying around, everyone is happy and fat! Wait no, one still has one in her mouth... I'll just have to give them a while and see.

In my opinion,great product!

I always wondered - would frozen food hitting a fish's stomach injure them? It's not like they chew it or anything.:hmm3grin2orange:

Same with hot food - peas still hot from boiling.

i usually just toss in the cube but after watching the green sevs grab the whole thing and run around with it till they can swallow it, i'll be defrosting them

I melt them in a cup then put them in the tank.

In freshwater I just toss them in...the fish nibble at the cube and have fun...

In saltwater, I melt them first and then dump the 'melt water' to min. the amounts of nitrates I add to the SW tank...

So they're not injured by frozen items then?

They're very crunchy.:hmm3grin2orange:

We humans can tolerate* some ice directly in our stomachs, the mass differential is so large we can melt it without severely dropping our temperature. However fish are sometimes so small that I worry that a stomach full of frozen food might do damage. Also fish are cold-blooded of course, whether that makes them more or less tolerant I don't know.

* that said, in my fondness for slushies I can sometimes get so much ice in my stomach all at once it kind of causes an "ice cream headache" in my stomach. Which is excruciating, the first time it happened I thought I was having a heart attack. ;-)

Oh yes!!

Actually when I feed peas, I put the excess in the refrigerator and drop the rest in later on in the day. I'll allow it to come to room temperature first though. I suspect I'm being overly cautious, but better safe than sorry?

I feed the Frozen Lunchbox assortment to all my fish and I always defrost in some water first. it easier to spread it out that way I know everybody is getting some
