I wanted to share a picture with you of a flower that is commmon down here. It is a cactus that grows on other trees and only flower at night. Nucturnal humming birds love them. In the first picture i have but a standard size maxbox in the flower to give you a sense of scale.

Wow! Gorgeous!:1luvu:

Good thing you put the matchbox in for size comparison, or I never would have had an accurate idea of the scale of the flower...

...I really should come visit...

Actually the match box makes it look smaller then it is as the branch has pushed the flower together a little. they are little bigger then a large dinner plate when unobstructed. (some smaller, some larger)

Just let me know and you will have some seeds in the mail. Or a cutting if you prefer.

They produce a nice fruit that you likely can find in your supermarket. Makes good drinks and you could use those seeds to plant your own.

Dragonfruit is another name for them. They can have white flesh as well depending on the exact species. There are pink with pink flesh, pink with white flesh and yellow with white flesh as far as I know. Pink here meaning pink, purple or red.

It is a small world.

Try adding a blended dragonfruit (the red kind) with the water when you cook rice. Spices it a fantastic color and a nice sweet but still sour taste. If the fruit are to ripe it can get to sweet. I usually add a little black pepper as well. Rice al la william LOL

Isn't that kind of illegal?

Not for me to send them but it might be to recieve them. But most north Europena countries are not very strict with that (as they can't become established species) Usually the custom leaves a note in the package saying that you really should have a permit for this, get one next time, and let it through. If they do anything at all that is.

The only thing they are more strict one is usually rare orchids. And of course animals.

Don't know how to respond to that other then saying that ther is a few persons on the forum I envy as well.
