Do I need to add conditioner such as prime to R/O water?

Also, what is the proper way to buffer R/O water to a pH of 7.0. Should I add just acid buffer, or acid and alkaline buffer in the ratio recommended by the product label ( I have Seachem Acid and Alkaline buffers, so the ratio would be 1:2 for a pH of 7.0). Or should I not buffer at all since the water already in the tank already has some buffering capacity? Although I suspect after numerous water changes, it would lose its buffering capacity.

No need for conditioners on RO water. Whats your pH of the RO water? I believe they have neutral buffers out there.

6.0 or less (its the lowest color on the color chart). I bought the expensive water from the LFS. This time I got it from the self fill Culligan machine at Wally World. Tested it before using it, and it has the same parameters as the more expensive LFS water. This time I added both buffers in a 2:1 ratio. It still tested low, so I added a little extra alkaline buffer. Got it to 7.2 and figured good enough. I didn't want to keep adding stuff ad infinitum.

If you want neutral water, why use RO?

You could always find a ratio of mixing tap water with RO water that gives you neutral pH.

More info please. How? I know you can do that with kH an gH, but how do you do it with pH?

Experiment, add tapwater and keep testing the pH until it's right, then let it sit for a day or two and check it again and adjust as needed.
