Your oscars will eat the tiger barbs. They are way too small to put in with Oscars.
The Bala's might work, but I've heard a few people say that the really need something bigger than a 125, because they are so active.
I dont' know how much you pay for them, but you'd need to get some reasonable size so you oscars didn't eat them too if they were too little. They really are very active fish though, and love A LOT of room.
I don't really know anything about tinfoils sorry, someone else will have to give you info on those. All I know is that they get big, LOL.
The severum would work, or even a convict. I've never had a severum so can't tell you much about them, but I've got a couple of cons and they are great fish, very feisty.

How big are your oscars now?
How is your tank set up? Lots of rock,plants,driftwood...?

I've some friends and all have severums in one tank or another- I've never found them to be very active fish. Certainly not in the same league as a school of balas.

Hmm..I seriously doubt FOUR balas could go into a 125 by themselves....Possibly tinfoils, but I'd downsize on the number to get a trio. Tiger barbs are probably a little small for your tank. Maybe some giant danios? I think there are some rainbows fast enough to survive, but I can't guarantee...

my oscars are 4.5 inches
tank there are alot of large plants in the back and 1 or 2 caves on the side and a large swimming space in the middle
I wouldn't put 4 balas and 2 oscars in a 125, trying to keep the water ammonia down would be a nightmate. Also feeding time would be scary..

Yeah you'd have to worry about the balas busting through the glass and the oscars being aggressive. I can't think of any other fast-moving fish that grows large enough not to be eaten...giant danios and tinfoil barbs is your best shot, IMO.
tinfoil barbs just about a foot too, but giant danios are the best dither fish IMO
