I know I'm the only person in the world who doesn't drink soda, but I had to purchase one can of soda today for a recipe.
Some of the ingredients in this soda are as follows:
Ester of wood rosin
Brominated vegetable oil
Eewww! I'm thinking twice about eating my own recipe!

In Aus it is called softdrink, as for the ingrediants, I just looked at my can and it said bourbon, so I thought thats good enough for me:thumb:, it should counterweight the ingredients of the soda/pop/softdrink it is mixed with:hmm3grin2orange:

It's soda or pop here, depending on what kind of mood we're in. Most places like restaurants and stores call it soda tho.

I have also heard it called soda pop, there is even a John Fogarty (of CCR) song called soda pop.

I'm from Chicago and we said "pop" there as well. It's a relatively unpopular term anywhere else, so usually no one knows what I'm talking about when I say that. Hence my switching to the term "soda".
Or we can all call it "a refreshing carbonated soft beverage" as a catch-all.

Better yet, we can call it "a brominated vegetable oiled, ester of wood rosined liquid sustainance" and that'll definitely be accurate (and make everyone run for the hills!).

We could call it diabetes in a can.

Unfortunately, most food is that way nowadays. If you knew how it was produced (in particular non-natural processed food), you would probably rather die of starvation. Having worked at Pizza Hut, and knowing what goes on there, I can safely say that I'll never buy pizza from there again. :)

Here in the South everything is a Coke... no matter whether it's actually Pepsi, Sprite, Dr. Pepper, Mountain Dew, etc.
Oh, and everything is a Q-tip and a Kleenex also.

I lived in the Carolinas and I loved how older (or very southern) people use the possessive (or plural, I can't tell by speech) form of proper nouns. Example: Today I went to K-Mart's. Yesterday I went to Wal-Mart's, but they didn't have as good of a selection as Target's.
