So about a week or two ago my pregnant fish got a bruise on her side, I made a post about it, and it apears to be healing up nicely.

Well a few days after that, she was no longer pregnant; I looked everywhere but I could not find any fry. I figured all of them were eaten by the other platies or there was a miscarriage of sorts due to stress (just like how you can't move them just before birth)

So the other day we were looking at the tank and my father says "what the hell is that"

I look over and see a little tiny platy fry. "Oh my god! One survived!" I exclaimed.

I sat backdown in my seat, I was amazed it made it this long. I watched it pick some peices of discarded food of the log and eat bits of plants in awe.

Then as it was swimming from one structure to another a platy swooped down and got it.

:ssuprised:

:sconfused:

:scry:

Well, so much for that.

Just kidding!

It survived and It alone was the sole survivor.

Yeah I think It's a bit too big to fit in their mouths now.

And she (Here's hoping) knows where to stay, right along the driftwood where there is a bunch of grooves to swim in that are way too small for anything else in that tank. Right in the wisteria is another favorite spot. LIkes the java moss and the helmet as well.

I'm accepting names now, Her(Fingers crossed) mother was orange with a black stripe down the side and her father was a mickey mouse platy that was a lighter orange colour.

:spam: And I'm not even considering "Nemo", If you suggest that I'll have to beat you so hard you'll be needing a new colon.:spam:

Oh you had me going! I seriously thought he/she got eaten for a little bit! Argh! Well, I won't recommend nemo, but how about...hmmm...I'm a bit short on names right now...I'll come back to you on that...

Well, it's not that I dislike the movie, but the whole "Oh only one survived! I'm gonna name it NEMO!" thing is just too much for me.

Plus I like to get more creative with my names.

For instance, my names to fish that I might have in the future:

Dwarf gourami - Bellerophon
Snail - Gaston
Blind cave tetras - Charon, Lo, Oberon, Dactyl, Mimas, Callisto, Rhea and Ganymede.

EDIT: (I specifically said she was likely going to be orange with a mickey tail, Dory is blue you flatuous git)

And as names are following a theme right now, this little one will probably not get a name as fancy as the ones above.

My Platy names are Walter, Scarlet, and Danny.

I almost never refer to fish by their formal names anyway, but I want have a good one anyway.

If there is ever a fish I have trouble finding, then I shall name it Carmen or Waldo.

The same day that I got my two Platy from PetSmart they each had fry. I have a breeder so... I knew that one platy was pregant so I put her in the breeder, she had fry within a couple of hours but the mickey mouse platy had hers underneath an ornament. Most of hers did not make it, but overall there are more than 16 left and they are two weeks old living amongst the other fish!:goldfish:

Ha, excellent names there! I had one named Oberon (who sadly died suddenly and mysteriously). Don't explain it in the forums though, because if you mention it's a moon of Uranus you will get e-sniggers.:poke:

Yeah, I knew I wanted to name them after moons but until I was posting that I had never decided which moons, so that list is subject to change as I kind of just picked names randomly off a list of moons.

The only one I was sure about before was charon. I must say that that is my favorite moon.

There is at least one more surviving fry.

At least.

We think there might be two.

I also spotted a snail. :ssuprised: .

Guess I didn't check that moss hard enough.
