Sad news -- I lost 2 of my yellow labs this week -- they were both just over a year old -- no idea what happened. Water parm. were fine and everybody else was looking good. I did notice on the 2nd one that went he had what looked like some redish lines on him --- he was in his cave --- at first I thought he was sleeping - but soon realized he wasn't. The other one I found floating on the top and he was turning a whitish color -- sorry i should have taken pictures to show everyone, but was so distraught to lose them. I have been watching that tank very closely and everyone else seems to be doing fine. The yellows were eating fine and swimming around fine before they went. One I found in the morning -- so he must of passed during the night and the other I found when I got home from work -- so he must have gone during the day. They died approx. 24 hours apart. I have 1 more yellow lab left -- he appears to be fine although he seems to be looking for his friends.:scry:

Oh no sorry for your loss.

Are you sure they were not bullied?

No I don't think they were bullied -- they were the bullies most of the time, but of course when mommy's not around who knows what goes on.............

Sorry to hear about your lab's, it's been a bad week for me too. I lost my favorite fish (pair of Tanganykian plagiostoma eels, avatar is a pic of the female) yesterday to water pollution. :scry: I had BN pleco's in the tank with them, and had been feeding them fresh zucchini. The night before I noticed the water looked a bit cloudy, and several pleco's were hanging out close to the surface. I changed 10 gallons of water (29 gallon tank) and figured they'd be alright until the next day. When I got up and checked the tank, the water was cloudier, both eels were stretched out along the front upside-down, and I saw a couple pleco's dart to the surface for air. I immediately started stripping down the tank to move the pleco's, and found some zucchini from the previous week stuck in the artificial plants. Apparently the decaying veggies led to a bacterial "bloom" that lowered the O2 below critical for the eels, and they weren't able to compensate like the catfish do. I'd had them for several years, they were both 9.5" long.
