You get them for making a lot of posts and/or winning the lottery. Also for hitting certain milestones in terms of number of posts

Ah. I figured as such also what are these awards and gifts that i have seen floating around?

If you go the main menu of the forum, you'll see a section entitled awards. it has descriptions of them in there.

Members can give each gifts if they have enough AC $$

Also reputation which is on the right side is an indicator of helpful people are. The more reputation, the more helpful in general people are.

You can give reputation by clicking the scale-looking thing on a post.

It is also possible to earn a lot of AC$ by writing profiles.
