ok hows this for an idea would it work

Hi all

we have seen a nice tank that we like, full saltwater set up for £179.99, cant remeber the gallon size think is about 3ft long by 2ft high and 2ft wide, not sure, has a acrylic see through hood, and lights are mountedon a arch above it so you can change the lights to diffent types, think there are 6 lightsin total.

Anyway, I was thinking of doing a live rock, with maybe some hardy corals and a clean up crew, I know the kids want a starfish.

So any ideas, would it work, I would liek the possability that maybe a year or 2 down the line we may be able to add a cardinal of some sort

well, that lighting is going to dictate the corals you can keep. What are your other plans for equipment? Plans for amount of Live Rock? Other fish you want? Clean up crew?

If you really want corals, then you are going to eliminate one of the hardiest Sea Stars from your list. Chocolate Chip stars are one of the hardiest stars around and also one of the most visible, however they are completely unsafe for a reef tank. The other stars that you can get that would be fine are generally nocturnal and many others do not last long in a tank.
