I decided to try something new with my office tank. I wanted something that would be SUPER low maintenance, so I settled on a zoa garden setup. A guy I know broke down his 180g tank, so he gave me a great deal on some rock, and he gave me some free sand. I had the rest of the equipment lying around, so the tank has cost me next to nothing so far. I will stock the tank with frags from my 31g reef and with trades from my local reef club. To keep the tank low maintenance, I am considering not adding any fish at all...just inverts and zoas. Anyway, here is the basic setup:

Equipment:
10g AGA
AC30-sponge, carbon, pura pad
mini-jet 606
2x18watt T5HO lighting
soap dish for chaeto

Livestock:
12 lbs. of LR
about 15lbs. or LS
4 hermits, 1 turbo

very nice, I was thinking about doing something like this, but just one mantis :)
Good luck!

Thanks RS!

You know, I actually thought about a mantis too...but I figured that feeding him would increase the bio-load more than I wanted.

I will probably end up adding one nano fish eventually.

Sounds like a great idea. I hope someday I have an office big enough for a 10g.:typing:

I can't wait to see this tank when stocked with zoas. I would highly suggest getting at least one fish that can go into a 10g. A firefish would be perfect.

Well I have added 7 varieties of zoas so far, along with 2 rics and a small hammer frag. I also added some nano conch snails from my 31g.

My rock came with a kind of bristleworm that I have never run into before. It is white, wide, flat, and very bristley. It is at least 7" long, but I could only get a blurry picture of its head. Please LMK if you know anything about this type of worm.

Thanks for looking in!

No clue on the bristle but tank is coming along very well. Can't wait to see what it looks like as it matures some more. Makes me wish I still had a spare 10 gallon tank sitting around.

Well, here is an update on my work tank. I set up the AC70 fuge. Right now I have chaeto, my heater, and a carbon bag in there. I added a few more zoas and some shrooms. I also decided to add a single fish to the tank, and I went with a yellowtailed damsel. On to the pics!
