I was on a couple of weeks ago and tried everything that was suggested to bring the amonia levels down. But I am willing to try just about any as nothing hs worked to date. I have a 150ltr Cayman Ferplast tropical tank. I now have a bluwave 05 internal filter and a fluval u4 internal filter. I have a airpump through a difuuser hose and the water is chrystal clear. The PH, Nitrate and nitrite are perfect but the "£$%^& amonia is still quite high. I have tried 50% water change then10% daily water change for a week, always adding water safe and anti sresszyme for the fish. None of the fish seem stressed at all they actually seem quite at home. The tank has been set up for over 2 months now from a previous owner. There are 35 x 2" size fish and 2 frogs(cool) please what can I do? desperately seeking Me or is that suzan I need help please:help:

Could your test kit be bad? What tests are you using? Have you tested your tap water for ammonia? If the readings were really that high, your fish would not be acting healthy. If you never get any nitrate readings, it would indicate that your tank is not cycling, but there again, your fish would not be acting healthy. I would continue with the water changes and get a new liquid test kit.

I took the initiative and bought a new kit. Still high. I have tested the water too. Our water comes through a declorinator filter aswell.:scry:

i'm having the same issues, had my water tested at the LFS. some of my fish seem a little lethargic but that is the only sign. vacuumed the gravel and changed out 7 gallons of water going to do it again tomorrow and retest ammonia levels, is there anything else i can/need to do?

you have 70" of fish in 30gal of water, even with high volume filtration you are overstocked

Yeah, that's a really high bio-load for that tank... You'd need massive filtration to clear that out properly. But the thing is, if you're at 0 on nitrites and nitrates then the tanks either never cycled or something has gone completely outta whack. I wonder if there's something in your water that's causing the test to show high ammonia when there's actually very little or none... If the ammonia level is up and the fish are acting fine, it makes very little sense.
I looked up the specs on those two filters. The combination of the two should filter about 1300 liters/Hr. You have substantial filtration, but I don't know if it's enough for that bio-load.
How does the tank smell? Do you smell any ammonia?
You could use a chemical treatment like ammolock or some such. I'd hate to go that route because it's not fixing the problem, just the symptoms.
