Lunar Lights

so i have a new sunpod with 2x250 MH and 9x9 lunar lights. 9 of them white and 9 of them blue. im curious to as to what kind of rotation i should put the lunar lights on. should i have them on both at once, or cycle them in what order, and for how long. pretty much i want what will be the least stressfull for my fish and coral. im only asking about the lunar lights, incase i didnt explain myself.

The lunar lights are for night time veiwing.After your white lights go out.
I turn mine off when I go to sleep though! lol

If you have a sophisticated enough system, you can use your lunar lights to mimic the phases of the moon. Obviously for a full moon you would have them all on at the same time. Coral spawning is directly linked to the lunar phases and as a result, if your lunar lights are timed correctly, you should see coral spawning take place. However, if not, then you can do what you want with them. I personally only have blue lunar lights on mine and I run them every night and turn them off completely every few weeks.

When you run them, do you run them all night, or do you have at least some time when the tank is totally dark.

I never use mine because I was worried about leaving them on all night, and I don't want to set up a timer just for the moonlights.

i have mine on a timer, everything is ona timer. but whats the difference in effect(besides color) of the white LED compared to the blue LED. i dont want to shock my fish or coral with too much of one thing

The only effect difference is going to be intensity. On nights where the moon is closer to being full, the light from it is a more intense white then others. You would use the white lunar lights in conjunction with the blue ones to simulate a full, or nearly full, moon.

Just curious- for simplicity sake, some people throw everything (heater, lights, filter, etc...) on a timer. Obviously a bad thing to do :hmm3grin2orange:

do any lunar lights have a built in cycle to mimic the moon or do they need dimmers to create this effect?

I don't know any that have it built in, but you can use a controller
