I went out and got a beta for a ten I was given.
Here is "Oscar!"They didn't have much for tank mates.I guess I will have to rearrange it later when I add something else. Most likely Rasboras.

Kaz I'll explain it to you like this, you crawl into a dog cage and stay in there until someone feels sorry enough to let you out!
Thats how I feel about a beta in a cup.:02cents:
They are fish and belong in a tank.

But to assume that the person who purchases them will know nothing of fish?

What i meant was that yes, being in cup is no way for a betta to live but somebody will at some point purchase him (like you did) so I do not see how you buying one saves it.

Sure it'll probably better in your care but it's not as if you saw somebody saying "I can't wait to buy this betta and put it in my oscar tank!"

But yes, it is a nice betta

A very large percentage happen to die in those cups!
I am sorry if you do not see it my way.I do not like seeing betas in a cup.It bothers me!Its cruel! Its a money grabbing sceme to sell fish that was started long ago and has never gone away.Stores should have proper set ups to sell these fish! Its as bad as a goldfish in a bowl!
It may just be my opinion but its a damn good one!

:goodpost: I,m with you ray!

Kaz! Some could take it as just a "figure of speech" others take it in the literal sense! For me, the less time they have to endure being in those damn cups the better!

Kaz

Right, I completely agree that bettas should not be in cups, but the wording impied something about the person who would buy it if he didn't.

Grammatically, I'm still uncomfortable with the statement because it implies an overarching fate but I understand what he is saying and agree with it.

Kaz you can say that about any fish.Betas are the only fish kept in cups!
Stores are just to cheap to set up a proper tank display for them.
How hard is it to install 3 smoked glass or plexi dividers in a 20 long?
Here the pick should show the difference and how I feel about the size of the cups they are forced to live in.
Nuff Said!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A lot of stores are now starting to put bettas in proper display tanks. Still a bit on the small side, but I see more and more of the Aqua One barracks where they have 0.5 litres each and it's filtered and heated. Other stores keep them in 0.5-1 litre glass containers, which always look nice and clean. More and more people are realising that these fish don't live in cups, and I would recommend that people go and buy them from a store that keep them in filtered container, or at least large clean containers, rather then getting them from a store that keeps them in cups. That way you support the stores that keep them properly, and remove the business from the ones that don't.

The caps thing is really frustrating me...

I WANT TO YELL ABOUT IT!!!

But all the browsers I use do the same thing. I even got a PM from william because I used "blah blah blah" as a place holder for a post written all in caps.

YEEEEEELLLLLLLLLING!

You can download a registry thing to disable the caps lock key here:

http://www.roger.id.au/index.php?section=1&pageid=42

It's the one at the top. I always disable the caps lock key as one of the first things I do after formatting or getting a new computer. I only wish there was one for the insert key as well.
