male swordtails

Last Christmas, my pineapple swordtails Leilani and Fred decided to give me my first set of swordtail babies ever. I only have about 7 or 8 of them, but recently I have noticed that two of them are boys. Swordtails are late bloomers, I have noticed. So far the boys seem to be getting along with each other and their dear old dad, but I have heard one should not have more than one male in a mixed gender aquarium. Could I add a couple more females to distract them if things got rough? So far I've only two boys and it doesn't seem worth it to make the trip across town to a pet store that would take them. Plus I like them and I'm not into regifting Christmas gifts unless they are really tacky.

Multiple male swordtails is generally fine as long as you keep a ratio of 3:1 females to males. There may be the occasional squabble, but nothing serious.
