Righto, just going to see to see if anyone can give me an answer or an educated guess. I've had another molly die in my 40gal tank, which had flashing behaviour and rapid gilling. I'm sorry if anyone's offended by dead fish (if you're in the hobby i'd say we've all seen them) but i'd like a positive id of disease if anyone can....... unfortunately these are the best photo's I could get.....

Notice the scales/colour missing from her tail, and the tail fin has powdery goldish/black and when i pulled the top fin up it was the same. I'm starting treatment with blacking tank out and half dose mela/pimafix because of the molly fry in the tank. Oh, it also seems the fry are starting to flash as well. If it is velvet, how would i treat an unfortunately heavily infected tank?
The 3 other adult mollies don't have the powdery stuff on their fins but have the gold/yellow patches showing, no signs of fin clamping either. All mollies big and small are flashing every now and again. I'm not sure if it helps but the 3 adults were aggressive towards this one and this one has been a loner since i've had her. (bout 2 months)
All water parameters are fine except for a low ph of 6.0.
The b/n pleco's and cardinal tetra's are fine BTW, which is strange, thanks again!

I'm rather sure that's what just killed a bunch of fish when I bought some new rainbows. On one fish, for sure, I could see the Velvet but many others had grayish area's. I turned the heat up in the tank, hung dark blankets and towels over it and treated with parasite medication. Velvet is a parasite. Some say to use cooper meds but I just used Ick Meds.

It's very contagious and even it if kills your fry, it has to be done. Either the velvet will kill them or the medication will so you may as well medicate. Remove charcoal.

Is the pima/melafix worth a go or should I try to find some ick meds?

I'd get medications. Pima/Melafix is not for heavy duty work.
