My LFS has some and I think they look pretty cool. I have a 55 gallon tank with a normal gravel bottom. Could I put them in there? How much light do they need?
Well how much light do you have?

What ever came with my hood. This is the hood I think

what ever it is, probably pretty low.
I would say give it a try. Sometimes plants will do good in one tank while bad in another even with the same lights or the one that does bad has more lights than the other tank.

Ok. Do I need ferts? I'm completely new to the whole plant thing
There's no point in adding ferts if you're just going to put a few plants in there.

there will be like 2 to 3 of them probably
The ferts wouldn't be worth it.

Ok thanks =D
No new light needed though for sure?
I would say only if you want it a planted tank.

Isn't having 2-3 real plants a planted tank? lol
I mean heavily planted. You could buy better lights if you wanted.

Don't bury the "bulbs"...just sit it on the gravel or sand, and let it root. If you bury the bulb, it will rot.:ssmile:
