what size should a baby bristlenose be before I can put him in the community tank.

Bigger then the largest mouth... thumbs2:

My young ones are about 3/4" long right now and I have them in my fry tank. I think the smallest I've ever put in my main tank was 2 inches long.

I would think 1 1/2 - 2" to be on the safe side.

ok then I have to wait a while longer.
shame as there is a lot of algae developing, they would have had a good months work.

They take a while to get used to new community setting (in my experience), as long as nobody can physically gulp him down he'll be fine. Plus they tend to hide most of the day and come out eve/night time.
EDIT: I bought mine when he was about 1.25" and he didn't become anybody's breakfast :)
