I went to a picnic today, and got home and my fry tank was WAAAAAAAAAAY hot. Almost to 90º!!!

Needless to say, my heater crapped out on me, and somehow in shorting out, it decided the water was too cold, too cold, too cold!!

So, here's my question. I unplugged it, and the temp is slowly returning to normal, but what are the chances that I've fried my fry?

They seem to be swimming around still. Has anyone had fish that have gone through a daily temp change of +10º before?

If they are still swimming around they should be fine.
Get yourself a new heater and get rid of that one! lol

no kidding!

I unplugged the heater and too the hood off of it. I don't imagine the fry will be jumping out of the tank to try to cool down. :P

But I'm a little worried at the idea of them chilling down to a normal temperature in one day. Is that going to be alright, or should I monitor it and try to slow down the cooling process?

Platys are a very hardy fish... almost bulletproof. They have survived me! I think the fry will get thru this without too many issues.

Heh... survived you, eh? Well, I'll keep you guys posted. So far, they still seem to be swimming around. At least most of them. I haven't really counted.
