Do you ever put too much food in the tank when your not paying too much attention?

Yeah I really hate that. Although now I keep an extra brine shrimp net around for that purpose.

I do this sometimes. My blood parrot and I play this game. He hides in a cave and he peaks his head out the top and I try to throw NLS pellets into the whole and he catches them. Lazy bugger!

Hate when that happens, but my fish are so piggish that it rarely matters...
I have enough filter flow that it all ends up on the bottom.

at least you don't forgetfully feed your fish four times a day. -_-
I did that the other day. Fed them in the am, and then again an hour later 'cause I forgot I did it, and then when I got home from work, and then after dinner 'cause I forgot I did it.
They ate all of it, but dayum, they're gonna be pooping a lot...
Of course, if I don't feed them as much as those ravenous beastly platies want, they eat all my plants.
Me: Don't munch the plants kthx!
Platys: :ssuprised: Ohai Salad how'dya taste, bloop?
Me: NO! I will feed you yummy flakes. Don't munch my plants.
Platys: :shappy: *chomp chomp* what was that?
Me: *facepalm*
Platys: :ssmile: Oh well... mmmm salad! What? Was that a danio swimming by?.... Saaaaalad...

It does!:hmm3grin2orange:
Flakes in packets cause me more problems actually, especially as it gets low. They tend to stick together and come out in a big landslide. I tried pinching it which was better, but a pinch can be quite a bit and you don't know how much it is until you release it - d'oh!!
Pellets flow much better and flakes in a shaker bottle are better too, but like you Kaz, it doesn't sit up there long before it hits a filter downdraft and gets propelled to the bottom...sometimes with a hungry guppy wanting more adventure in his food chasing after it!:ssmile:
Next time at the LFS I'll get a feeding ring. I see Big Al's has 4 types:

The cone feeder looks interesting because it can be used as a cone or as a floating ring, but I'll have to see how large the ring on the small one is.
