Here's a guy I rescued from a 10-gal. One of my co-workers got him along with a bunch of neons 'cause the person at the store told her he wouldn't get all that big.

Well, he's already too big for a 10-gal. (I suggested she get a cory and a couple of snails. :P)

Anyway, he's about 2-3" long now. His actual coloring is sort of a reddish goldwith dark tail fin. He's got a little bit of a stripey pattern, too.

I don't normally get plecos 'cause they always get too big for me (if you couldn't tell, I like the little ickle fishies). But I really ought to know what kind of pleco he is. There *may* be a 125 gal. aquarium in my future (if I get this house I'm trying to put a contract on), and if that happens, I'll probably keep him in there. (with a flying fox and a colony of danios. :D)

Anyway, if anyone can tell me who he is, I'd be grateful!

hahaha... so much for "won't get that big"

People at pet stores are stoopid sometimes.

Okay, so, if that's the case, he'll get to be 11-14" long, right? he ought to be fine in my 40-gal for now, but sometime this year I'll have to either upgrade or get rid of him.

Anyone want a pleco? most of the time, I promise you won't even know he's there. :P

Yeah, I believe soo. He would be fine for your 40 a while. but I would start looking for a new home for him!

How fast do they grow? I mean, how long do I have before he outgrows the 40?

My parents had one when I was a kid, but I haven't had a pleco in DECADES, and even then, I didn't do much other than feed the fish and watch to see if the guppies had "tadpoles".

:P

Rhino pleco or chocolate pleco, but I'm leaning towards chocolate pleco.

Young rhinos don't form their horns until they're a little bigger. Just looked a bit like one, but I'm thinking this is a chocolate plec. Sorry for any confusion but I think it's a chocolate plec.
