Hehe , I'm right down the road from you Blacksnow . I'm in Summerville. So which store did you get your tank from? Picked mine up at Age of Aquariums. And welcome to the world of big tanks. Don't be surprised if it starts looking small in a few months LOL. I'm already work on the next BIG upgrade:c3:.

Will fill it tomorrow. Then my rest of my filter media will arrive tuesday. So I'll get the filter running tuesday evening.

And since someone asked about the fish. Well here are the parents of 2 of the fish I already purchased. They will be 4" when I receive them ;)

I'm also in summerville (Westcott).
Age of Aquariums never really made me comfortable- the place always seems dirty, the tanks not very clean or well maintained, and the store just gives me a bad vibe.
I can always find at least one dead fish whenever I go there- I much prefer tideline, but they never have enough staff to help all the folks there.

Back on topic, I find the mega-stores have better prices on the actual tanks and stands.

Ya age of aquariums is scary =O...the guy who runs it is very nice, but the place looks horrid inside...which is sad because years ago it was an amazing store...not sure what made it all fall apart =[

Tideline is very good, but everyone goes there and even with the massive amount of employees they have finding help can take up to 30 mins sometimes =O. Although ever since my tank purchase they sure seem to help me much faster. Which isn't right in my mind, but hey im not complaining =]

Tideline matched the lowest prices I could find locally. So I was happy to give them the sale. Not to mention they beat some other LFS's prices on the lights & glass tops.

Thanks man...I just filled it up with water. Also kicked on the heater.

Rest of my filter media will be here tomorrow. I look forward to turning it on and getting this cycle going =]

I agree with you. Tideline would be much more a pleasure to shop at if their store were larger or more staff on hand.
On the cycling note, Age of Aquariums is the only place locally that has Bio-Spira if you're into cycling that way. I've always used it and have great success with it.

I'm actually going to try the fishless cycle. I have a bottle of pure ammonia I managed to find.

This method is suppose to establish a much larger bacteria colony. Enabling you to stock the tank with a decent load soon as your finished.

I have heard good things about bio-spira though.

Agreed , the place is a bit run down and their selection sucks but once in a while they have something really cool and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I got my old Uaru pair from them for $30. They do have good prices on drilled tanks though which is why I bought my 125 from them. Normally I go to Tideline for everything else as far as fish go.

The big box stores do have good prices but I'd rather support my LFS than big soulless corporations. Something about a store that says an Oscar is suited for a 20g just bothers me . Although the Petsmart on Main does have hobbiests working the fish deptthumbs2: . That's a nice change.
