They did not have the one I wanted anymore, story of my life! So I brought this lil guy home. I figured he has some fin issues but I bet we can fix that!! I will say that I realize he is not 100% healthy, but I still wanted to bring him home even knowing that. He is very fiesty!!! And he eats like he has not eaten in a week! He also will not sit still for any length of time, so the pics are not great, but you get the idea! I will get better pics when he gets settled down some.

He looks nice . The fins aren't in that bad of shape. I would suggest bettafix at 1/2 normal dosage for 7 days, do a water change and let him go a week or two with out meds. That should get him on the road to recovery just nicely. Unless he shows any problem fin damage after that , just let him heal naturally.

Thanks guys!! He is really active and my duaghters just love watching him!! They think he is so pretty!!!! LOL Angelica wants to name him Mojo........yeah I have no clue but ok...He is now called Mojo!!

Yeah I am going to use melafix 1/2 dose for 3 days as Taurus suggested!! TYVM Taurus and Thrakuarium!

It looks like he has already started to heal a bit so I hope it will be fairly quick.

Thanks!!! I love feeding him, he likes to be hand fed!!! I am really glad I got him!! LOL Now I am thinking how many more 10g I can fit in my house, so I can get a few more that looked like they needed a home! So is it bad when all of your walls are covered with either fish tanks, rat cages, or toys????? LOL (I think the top of the TV and fridge are still available)

This might be a dumb question - but what exactly is wrong with his fins?
I looked at the pictures but couldn't spot anything (or maybe I didn't know what I was looking for...).

My mom just got a betta that looks IDENTICAL to yours (the spots on the fins and all... are the spots a problem? I thought that was just part of their coloring...

Anyhow, kudos to you for rescuing him!! He's lucky to have you.

I think the problem is that there is a chunk missing from the caudal. Only thing I can see that's wrong with it anyway, there doesn't appear to be any finrot or fungus.

I'd just add IAL or melafix and he should be fine. I usually don't add anything when my bettas have minor fin damage, and the always recover within a week or so.

Yeah I meant the part missing from his caudal. And he has a few other small places. Up close I can tell that he has startes to heal, but considering the stress of being in that little bowl at the pet store and moving it could get worse. Its not really bad, but enough that I gave him a little melafix. No the spots he has are just his coloring, its normal.

Congrats EmilyEkk on your moms Betta!!!!
