I'm in the process of cycling my first-ever tank. As a beginner, I've come across some instances where my test readings and cycling schedule didn't exactly match what everyone tells me is supposed to happen (actually, "exactly" is an understatement...several times my situation wasn't even in the ballpark). I think it would be great if someone came up with a manual/e-book/webpage of troubleshooting problems. I know it would take a long time to compile, seeing as how there a zillion combinations of test readings and individual scenerios, but for someone who is really experienced and has done a lot of trial and error, I think it would be rewarding for them to pass their knowledge around.

Just a thought.

A good idea, but I think it should be a team of people to compile a list like that.

I just started a tank too a couple weeks ago and I have been keeping pretty detailed records of what is going on in the tank thus far, and I am planning on using excel to graph the ammonia vs. nitrite levels. I also have kept track of temperature and water changes, and I will be glad to share the information with anyone who needs it.
