Has anyone actually seen these in an aquarium shop? I have only seen them online and never actually in a store. They're cute as buttons, so I don't know why they're not more popular.

Your store may have them, look for "feeder Guppies". Our store doesn't carry them anymore, just feeder goldfish and shrimp. I bought them 10 years ago to cycle a tank and started breeding them just because they were so neat. Messing with the colour variations and tail shapes was fun and you got almost instant result with the fry being born every 3-4 weeks.

i bought tons of feeder guppies. I always try to buy feeder fish if i can so they dont end up being eaten and i keep them as pets.

I've usually only seen them online, as well, until I found my current LFS that I just love. Well, I was walking around looking at all the tanks (as usual lol) and I saw one in a cichlid tank. I guess they have some in the back in some feeder tanks and they feed them to the baby cichlids. Too bad they don't put them in the display tanks. I would have bought a few to keep and try to breed.

Dammit, no one here has them at all. I always say hi to the feeder fish as well (they need love too) and they're always feeder goldfish or those white/peach minnows. I've never seen an Endler ever. I'd love to get a bunch of males because they're so small and pretty.

I have a couple males that I saved from a friend's tank that was to be converted to a cichlid tank! I saved the handful of community members that were in there, and they were part of the package!

Argh, I'm jealous. I thought about ordering them online, but then I realized that most sites have a $35 minimum order, plus the cost of overnight shipping. What would I do with $35 worth of Endler's in a 6-gallon tank? I'd have to fill my guest bathtub and house them all in there. I'd have the world's first tub-tank.

i dont think i can find it from malaysia either. sometimes i wonder if it is the same species with those near my grandma's apartment's drain. used to catch it when i was young. they look like endlers with colourful polkadots. if my husband allows, i'll go there to catch some and show everyone their pictures..

Such a shame that I cant send you over some of mine.

I have TONS of them...they reproduce worse than rabbits...and I have the REAL Endlers not those hybrids.

Endlers are quite poular in Germany, but still pretty expensive.

I bought 10 of them for 1$, they were advertised as feeder guppies. I put them in my community aquarium to see what my angels would do, and no surprise, all but one was gone in two days. I didnt save that one, my sister freaked out and put him with my betta. Surprisingly, the betta doesn't mind him, so now I have one surviving endlers livebearer in what used to be a pure betta tank. Tomorrow I might pick up more and put them in a small aquarium out of the way, apparently they breed so much they might provide sone great treats for my cichlids.

I think the difference is some ppl will claim to have a purebred endler's. I guess that would be valuable if you were trying to take some characteristic in a breeding program... whereas feeder guppies may have genes from all over the place. I might be alone in this but my lfs has feeder guppies but they don't look like endler's, they just look like small silvery minnows.
