Ok, so lately I've been seeing several ebay sellers marketing Fairy Shrimp for feeding Killis and Bettas, especially their fry. So I'm wondering if anyone other than Fishalicious feeds Fairy Shrimp?? I sent her a private msg about 'em but haven't heard back from her yet.

In case you don't know, Fairy Shrimp are essentially fresh water Brine Shrimp. So you could feed them and not have to worry about them dying off within an hour like Brine Shrimp. Any that're not eaten will scavenge the tank until they are.

What's AC's thoughts on Fairy Shrimp? Where do you get them other than ebay?

I cant imagine them costing an arm or a leg, maybe give it a try and let us know?

Sounds like a good idea depending on the tank, I think having a 24/7 protein source could lead to bloat and or digestive problems in fish with a large vegetable diet, so maybe let them all be eaten, and give it a little while before you introduce more.

I feed frozen brine shrimp, but only once a week and they are gutloaded, or supposed to be, with spirulina (algae)

One cool thing about having them live, would be you can gutload them with whatever you like if you gave them their own little tank, which honestly would be my tactic, being able to control the food source is invaluable, and the only potential problems i see stem from a lack of.

How much are we talking here? If they were anything but dirt cheap that would be a deciding factor for me.

They're a bit more expensive than Brine Shrimp. Somewhere around $18 shipped for 50K eggs. Hatching's easier than Brine Shrimp then just toss 'em in the tank with yer fishies.

I'm going to try 'em out, probably order at the begining of the month. I'll definitely let y'all know how it goes.

Just saw your post. Please keep us in the loop. I'd love to hear if they work well. I've had a really hard time with brine shrimp.

No clue where else you'd be likely to find any f/s aside from aquabid, but those would more likely be smaller numbers of eggs intended for shrimp keepers rather than feeders. Only thing that might be a difficulty would be water parameters. You may need rainwater or R/O water to get them to hatch, not sure if they'd hatch just dropped them into the tank.
