I am setting up a 46 gal tank and I noticed my floor is uneven, I read online about shimmying a stand but I was worried about all of the weight of the tank being set on a shimmy. What should I do?

What kind of floor are you setting up on?
What kind of shims are using to level the tank stand? What kind of stand do you have?Pics would help to give you a better idea how to level it.
Wood always worked for me. How much is it off from one side to the other?

I just have a black stand I don't remember what brand it is I'm guessing aqueon. I put ruler like pieces of wood under the two front edges and in the middle it was about a fourth of an inch tilted front I am now just worried about the part of the stand behind the piece of wood which is not on the floor

Can you post any pics?
It would help me to help you better.
The stand must be level, you cannot level the tank. Can you get a 1/4" slat of wood to place under the side of the stand.Make sure its the length of the side.At the back if you can shim it every foot or so it should be fine.
Is it on carpet or wood?

You could get larger, longer strips of thin wood cut. If you are worried about the weight on a small shim.

Is the floor tile, wood, carpet?

i have already set up my tank but if necessary i will take the ornaments (which are about 60 lbs) and water out and re-level it.. there are three pieces of wood 3-4'' in length and 1/4'' in height, there are two under the poles and one in the front center, here is a picture

Nice tank!:22:
Thats not too bad,only about 1/4 " to go.lol
You will have to empty most of the tank and remove the rocks.
You should level it out with more of that wood you used.Longer peices usually make it more stable but I don't know if your floor is level under the carpet .I would hate to see it rock at all.
Is the bottom of your stand flat,or is it on little feet?
Is it level from back to front?

sorry.. i cant really get a great picture from the side, all my stuff is in the way. i mean, the level says its pretty much even but i was just worried about the space behind the pieces of wood where the stand is suspended in air.

LOL cmon up! The fish are bitin'! lol

f.lanzarone Your tank is near levl from looking at the pic. Is low in the front?
I would straighten that out with a few more shims. Add 1 more in the front than in the back to get that level or whatever it takes. You can put your fish in a bucket but remove the rocks first. It'll be easier. You don't have to empty the whole tank if you have some help.
1/4 inch is not a lot of extra pressure on the tank but there is some!
If you can stand the difference in the level from side to side, leave it until you have some assistance and the time!
