View Full Version : Barb sudden loss of colour!

My common Tiger Barb has suddenly lost all of its colour, his nice dark stripes are pretty much disappeared - is this because of stress, after moving him from my community tank into my breeding tank to help it cycle?

What else could it be?
Looking for advice.. thanks.

Most likely it's the stress. I'd wait a couple of days, then it should clear up.

good, that is what i was hoping. Are there any other signs i should look out for to make me want to place him back in his normal tank?

Keep watch on parameters, but I think it is most likley to be the stress that the fish got when it was moved to the breeding tank. It should be fine.

Also, did you acclimate him before adding him to the breeding tank. Even though you just moved him from one of your tanks to the other, acclimating is still a good idea. It will lessen the stress it may get from temperature and other things such as that.

defintly stress. i am sure it will be fine. mines does that when i am adding salt to treat ich. when i did a partial water change (50%) to get rid of the buggs as fast as i possibly can...i say the colors changed back right in fornt of my amazed eyes!
