If a fish looks like it is so far away from being cured...looks way too depressed and you just cant stand to see it suffer, is it right to put it to sleep?

And if so, what is the most humane way to go about this?

Put them in the freezer from what i've read.

They essentially just slow down and fall asleep

Always used the ice bath and freezer method. Slows their heart rate and eventually stops it. Painless and the most humane IMO.

Sadly it is your decision in the end and whether you are able to do one or the other. I still prefer to use clove oil just to make sure the fish is fully anesthetised before putting him in the freezer, at lelast them I know he is not feeling anything.

This goes into detail regarding clove oil and how to use it, if you want to go that route.
