My blue ram's all bloated(his stomach's about 7 times it's original size) and it's left eye lid is very swollen. I think my tank hasnt been getting enough oxygen. Whats happening. Im probably just going to euthanize the fish.

thanks

You got a pic?
Are any other fish experiencing the same problems
Are you water levels ok?
Do you feed them flake food? (he could be extremely bloated due to too much air while feeding, so de-shelled uncooked garden peas would help for a couple days)

Not that I am expert or anything, lol, but these tend to be the questions ask!

That sounds real bad TB! Sorry to hear it.
I do suggest a water especially if you think its an oxygen problem.

I don't think oxygen deprivation would show up like that. I'm thinking more like constipation or dropsy?

what and how much do you feed them?

Don't kill him just yet, this might be a simple issue you can fix. Pics would be great!

I agree, lack of oxygen shouldnt cause this. There is something else going on.
Can you describe the effects on the eye more?

Can you describe the effects on the eye more?Well, I think it has a case of popeye. The same eye's eyelid also has this white fungus stuff on it.

As for the water quality, I think it's fine, but I do know that the tank has had TONS of algae in it.

I'll try and get a pic.

Meh, my camera's broken.

The fish is gasping now, and I don't think there's anything that can save it.

I had no luck with Blue Rams at all. I lost both of mine. :scry: One had the poppy eye thing going on too, but the other one didn't. Every other fish is fine in the same tank. Go figure.

It is possible that is has dropsy, and a fungal infection. Fungus usually is secondary. Is the fish still alive?

Look at the fish from the top down... if it looks like a pinecone with all the scales sticking out it has advanced dropsy and is more then likely going to pass. If its not there is a possiblity its internal parasites, or just constipated. Try feeding a shelled pee which will help with the constipation ( natural laxative for fish ).

How does his poop look? clear and stringy?

For the fungus on the eye get some Melafix and dose your hospital tank with him in it. If no hospital just dose your tank he is in. Also add a bit of aquarium salt to your water, and increase the temp a bit. Should help to clear it up... Had a GBR that got a small spot of missing scales then developed a white fungus. Did everything I said above and it was gone in 4 days and he survived it! thumbs2:

Good luck, hope the lil guy makes it.
